The president of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, announced this Monday the “unitary pact for freedom and free elections,” an agreement signed by 37 political parties.
In a statement, they explain that they are joining to "liberate Venezuela and return their sovereignty to citizens through free, fair and verifiable elections."
To this end, they affirm that they are committed to establishing a solid unit, which includes various political and social sectors of the country, "based on clear rules of operation and mutual respect, so that no difference is above the interests of the nation." .
In an act of virtual presentation, Guaidó, recognized as interim president of Venezuela by at least 55 countries, said that the objective is to achieve a transition process.
He also made a call to those who disagree with him and stated that, for this, "today more than ever, unity is in strength."
Among the proposals is the possibility of implementing Article 70 of the Venezuelan Constitution and convening a popular consultation with the support of the international community, so that citizens who are inside and outside the country can express themselves about these initiatives.
Guaidó reiterated that he will not participate in the parliamentary elections on December 6 because he considers them fraudulent, and because it will benefit the government of the questioned President Nicolás Maduro.
For the latter, the conditions for a fair and transparent electoral process are guaranteed.
