(CNN Spanish) -
Taxi and bus drivers began a day of protest on Monday in the road accesses of the main cities of Honduras to demand that the government authorize the reactivation of services interrupted in March by the coronavirus pandemic.
The carriers ask the Government to join a dialogue table to define the restart of their work.
Authorities offered carriers a quarterly bonus of just over US $ 80 while they analyze when transportation would be reactivated.
The offer was rejected by the carriers, who warned that they will remain on the streets until they are authorized to work, according to the sector leader Jorge Lanza told CNN.
They also ensure that their units will adopt the biosecurity measures proposed by the Government: two passengers per row, recommended physical distancing, use of masks and disinfection.
Transport workers say that after six months without work they are desperate because they cannot take money home to support their families.
