Munich * - Christian Schottenhamel's Oktoberfest feeling sets in with one move in the closet: When the landlord feels the deerskin between his fingers, he looks forward to the party.
Just like on Monday:
Schottenhamel
finally opened his
wardrobe
again
- and the tingling in his fingertips began.
After months of
setbacks
, the
corona-
related * cancellations
and the
lockdown
, something happens: On September 19, there will be a tap.
Then the Wirtshaus-Wiesn begins, the restaurateurs' replacement campaign for the canceled folk festival.
Wirtshaus-Wiesn in Munich: 54 restaurants take part
“For us the Oktoberfest is neither a place nor an event.
The Oktoberfest is a deep feeling of life that is anchored in us,
”says the spokesman for the innkeepers, Gregor Lemke.
In order to create this attitude to life, from 19 September to 4 October (i.e. during the time when the Oktoberfest was planned) you tickle all the senses that the Oktoberfest usually bombarded with impressions - while observing the hygiene and distance rules.
The Wiesn-Déjà-Vu begins with the palate and biceps:
Oktoberfest beer is served in mugs in
the
54 participating restaurants of
the Oktoberfest and inner city hosts.
The
six Munich breweries
have
brewed
a tasty solid hops juice - just like usual.
In addition, there are delicacies in some taverns that are otherwise only eaten under a tent.
“For example we will have our juicy chicken,” says Wiesnwirt spokesman Peter Inselkammer, who also runs “Am Platzl”.
And of course there's something for your ears:
brass bands
are allowed to play as background music in the restaurants with a reduced cast.
“We don't want a Remmidemmi,” emphasizes Schottenhamel (Schottenhamel-Festhalle, Nockherberg).
The
Oktoberfest atmosphere
should not only be heard, but also seen:
Festival teams
and groups in
traditional costumes
will
roam
the city, the restaurants are cleaning up.
"We want people to develop joy and come to the city to celebrate," says Inselkammer.
Wirtshaus-Wiesn in Munich: Guests should dress accordingly for the festival
The organizers want the people of Munich to dress accordingly for the festival.
So that there is a little extra incentive for this, they launched the Aufgebrezelt campaign.
"Among all those who
post
a picture of themselves in traditional costumes at the
Wirtshaus-Wiesn
under the
hashtag # aufrezelt2020, we are raffling off
four tables for the 2021 midday meal," says Inselkammer, who assumes that we will celebrate more normally again next year.
And who knows?
Maybe one or the other will discover their personal Oktoberfest feeling as soon as they reach into the closet - without any Oktoberfest.
