Last night, a faculty member allegedly opened a Pandora's box that was unparalleled, I think, since the establishment of the state.

Significant reinforcement of the feeling of many, that in the law enforcement system, decay has spread that endangers Israeli democracy and causes a loss of trust in the police, the State Attorney's Office and the legal advice to the government.

If they allow the rotten rot to expand, and do not immediately stop the poisoned tree fruit, it will also destroy the court system.

There is no democracy without a fair and just law enforcement system.

As a veteran jurist and a graduate of the Yom Kippur War, I get the impression that this is a Yom Kippur failure of the law enforcement system.

It is now clear beyond a shadow of a doubt that the police and the State Attorney's Office allegedly acted with cover-up, malice, blindfolding and conspiracy, in order to end Benjamin Netanyahu's term as prime minister, thereby distorting the free will of the citizens.

In the banana republics there is no such sub-level.

For several years now, Israeli society has been around the suspicions and accusations against Netanyahu.

It has now been argued that there are grounds for believing that this is indeed a case of sewing cases designed to bring about a change of government.

Severe and outrageous allegations of problematic and trending conduct quickly arose, starting with the Attorney General, for Shai Nitzan, the then State Attorney, Roni Alsich, the commissioner and investigators in Unit 433. According to the allegations, everything was kosher, in their opinion, to try and incriminate Netanyahu.

In light of last night's publication, it can be argued that the problematic transcript of the Elowitz investigation, the concealment of Ashkenazi Mandelblit tapes, the Mandelblit takeover of the State Attorney's place, the alleged extortion of state witnesses, its conduct requiring immediate investigation by Liat Ben-Ari, Ilana Dayan before the publication of the recommendations - they are just links within a whole chain of conduct that illuminates the law enforcement system in a dark and problematic light.

A truly black day for Israeli democracy.

To the same chain can now be attached the alleged conflict of interest of the head of the investigative team that investigated the dormitory affair.

This is in light of the romantic relationship published last night, between him and Judy Nir Mozes, the sister of Noni Mozes who was charged in the 2,000 case.

As alleged, the head of the team also had information about the material in the 2,000 case and he did not tell at all on his own initiative about the romantic relationship and the conflict of interest.

To this must be added the concealment of information and the thwarting of the investigation alleged by its commanders.

It is possible that senior officials in charge of him were afraid to tell and report on the allegedly serious information, for fear that it would cast a heavy shadow over the investigation and thus assist Netanyahu.

Among the senior officials who allegedly blocked the investigation was also someone who slandered him as if Netanyahu's emissaries were groping about him.

Shai Nitzan, it is alleged, prevented an investigation into the problematic conduct of Roni Alshikh at the Umm al-Hiran events.

His reasoning shocks any decent person: "On the one hand, this is intolerable behavior (of the commissioner; H.S.) what is more, if you rise above the incident and look at the whole relationship between the State Attorney's Office and the police, escalating the quarrel will only do good to those who want a systemic evil." Law enforcement, and smart enough.

The commissioner did act here outrageously, but there are interests of the state that need to be considered. "

I have no doubt there are more revelations on the way.

Therefore, if the law enforcement system and the courts want to maintain their status and credibility, then the Supreme Court should sit down as the High Court to immediately stop the continuation of proceedings against the Prime Minister until the stink, decay and omissions that accompanied the investigation and indictment are clarified.
