After a series of postponements, today (Tuesday) the partial closure of dozens of "red" localities, whose identities will be determined today, is expected to begin.

Following consultations with mayors in which it was planned to impose a night closure, the Ministry of Health announced yesterday that the closure would begin tonight at 7 p.m.

The closure will restrict leaving the houses to a distance of more than 500 meters (excluding essential needs) in the evening hours only, and will also be reflected in the cancellation of studies during the day.

Businesses, except pharmacies and grocery stores, will be required to close at 7 p.m.

At the same time, the Corona Cabinet is expected to convene the next day to discuss the possibility of imposing a closure on the entire country, in order to stem the sharp rise in the rate of corona expansion.

At the same time, the Ministry of Health published the morbidity data as of this morning, which show that today 311 carriers were identified in 5,687 tests.

Yesterday was a new record in the number of infections with the identification of 3,392 verified carriers of the virus in 40,382 tests (a positive rate of 8.7 percent).

In a conversation with Israel Today, Corona commissioner Prof. Roni Gamzo said: "Holidays in Israel will not be ordinary holidays. We do want to reassure gatherings and family and mass meals. Corona is contagious in gathering with eating. It is a classic contagion event all over the world. "And what - these are discussions that are currently taking place. There will be a recommendation to calm down at gatherings and give up an endless round of meals. The steps must be measured and not too extensive."

Prime Minister Netanyahu said yesterday during a visit to the Home Front Command base, where the headquarters for amputating the contagion chain is located, that "we want to avoid or at least postpone a general closure. We have been doing this for months and receiving the economic return. Later this week we will meet in the Corona "To prepare the State of Israel so that we can face the challenges of health and the economy. I know that these decisions involve difficult economic and personal costs, and solutions can be found for that."

However, given the repeated cancellations of the Corona Cabinet's decisions, it is doubtful whether the hearing on Thursday will lead to significant results.

Just tonight, five days after the Cabinet's original decision to impose a closure on red cities, the move is indeed expected to take effect and only to a limited extent.

Yesterday during the day a hearing was held for the 40 red cities and localities that the Ministerial Committee on Closures decided on Tuesday to impose a partial closure, and it seems that in at least some localities, the partial closure will not be imposed due to strong opposition from mayors and changing figures.

One-day delay

Netanyahu explained the delay in implementing the decisions, in that the law requires a hearing obligation for each city and authority before the night curfew is imposed.

"There are 10 cities that have joined in the last day, and by law one must also hear them and consult with them, with each and every one, and have a hearing and consultation, so it took another 24 hours to complete the move," Netanyahu explained.

The Prime Minister added that “we are at a high level of morbidity, and it is very possible that we are also at a level of rising morbidity at an increased rate.

This is happening not only in Israel, but everywhere, including in Europe and the United States.

Where they opened the restrictions a rapid increase began, because that is the way the virus works.

Experts fear a sudden jump in the number of serious patients and the number of deaths.

That is what can happen with a very fast rise, a geometric rise. "

Corona's commissioner, Prof. Gamzo, said at last night's press conference: "Whoever thinks I will resign - does not know me."

At the same time, after not convening for a month, the government plenum is scheduled to hold a full forum meeting today.

Finance Minister Israel Katz will present the emergency plan to stabilize the economy in the amount of NIS 11 billion, in light of the economic crisis caused by the corona.

If the meeting takes place as planned, it is estimated that the plan will be approved by a large majority.

Waiting for the deceased to cross

Meanwhile, Dr. Raya Leibowitz, director of the Oncology Institute at Shamir Medical Center, said yesterday at a meeting of the Corona Committee that according to the findings of the US Epidemic Prevention Center, out of only 1,000 corona deaths, only 6% died from the disease and not from background complications.

That is, according to the same estimate, 60 out of 1,000 deaths in the country died solely from the disease, and not from complications of background diseases.

The committee's chairman, MK Yifat Shasha-Biton (Likud), asked the representatives of the Ministry of Health to submit to the committee within two weeks, complete data on the incision of those who died from the corona only, with no background illnesses.
