A Scotch got his first bottle of scotch for his birthday as a baby. Now he is selling the collection of the Scottish noble distillery Macallan - and is paying down his house with it.

A Scotch got his first bottle of scotch for his birthday as a baby.

Now he is selling the collection of the Scottish noble distillery Macallan - and is paying down his house with it.

  • A

    Scot

gave his son a bottle of luxury whiskey for his 20-year-old birthday.

  • Now the unique

    collection

    comes

    under the hammer.

  • Whiskey fans

    around the

    world are

    now excited.

Munich -

whiskey

is actually a nice thing.

Connoisseurs are talking about the most beautiful color, the right nuance of taste of Scottish Highland peat and of course the best distillery.

But

so far hardly

anyone

has

gotten rich with

whiskey

.

It is different with the Scottish Matthew Robson.

Since his first birthday, his father Pete has given him a bottle of 18-year-old

Scotch single malt from

the

Macallan

distillery

every year

.

Over the years, the father has invested a total of around £ 5,000 in the 28 bottles from 1974 to 2019.

The rich, ruby-red mahogany tones of The Macallan Rare Cask 2020 Release exude warmth, and hint to a depth of sweet raisin flavor.

A testament to the mastery of the whiskey maker's bench.

Macallan's whiskey collection is said to cost at least £ 40,000

Now the junior has put the collection up for sale on the online platform Marklitter.com.

Robson calls for at least 40,000 to 45,000 pounds for the noble collection, of course in the original packaging and - great honor - completely unopened.

It usually takes years for collectors to have such a complete collection together.

With the edition of the staunch Scotsman, this is practically overnight.

No wonder that collectors of high-proof super

whiskeys are

now climbing accordingly.

Especially in Asia and New York, the complete collection of the coveted high-proofs from the Scottish highlands causes a sensation.

"This is a perfect set," said whiskey broker and auction

platform

operator

Mark Litter

to the

BBC

.

There are "a lot of interested parties."

Whiskey: Macallan is the S-class among the Scottish single malts

But Macallan's not just any

whiskey

either

.

The distillery from the Scottish

Easter Elchies

is an absolute top address in the whiskey Mecca around the Scottish Cairngorms National Park.

Many connoisseurs around the world now consider “The Macallan” to be the ultimate.

This is also reflected in the price.

In the past five to ten years, the value of many Macallan whiskeys has "increased massively", says industry expert Litter.

Individual bottles of particularly sought-after vintages, such as the 1958 anniversary scotch from the world-famous distillery, can be sold for £ 5,000 on the virtual counter.

Of course, Robson Senior did not expect

that his

Scotch

investment could one day bring in as much return.

One day he thought it could be very interesting "to collect 18 bottles over the age of 18 and then give my son the year he was born whiskey as the last bottle," he told the British

Daily Mail

.

Over time, he then saw how the value of the collection "increased significantly".

In the case of his son, however, his father's unusual passion for collecting initially caused confusion.

It was initially a "very quirky gift," Robson told the

BBC

.

Fortunately, there were other presents besides alcohol for the birthday.

Robson Junior wants to buy a house now.

The basis for this will come from the sales proceeds from his Macallan collection.

The 28-year-old Scot is correspondingly happy about his father's idea: "The one about the

whiskey,

" he said with satisfaction to the Daily Mail, "was one of the best decisions my father could make for me."
