Holzkirchen - Sometimes the sound breaks for a moment and the chat needs something to get going.

But then things go well.

And the traffic experts gesticulate on a virtual stage.

At a digital citizens' event, René Pessier and Heike Schleussner from the Mobilitätswerk GmbH in Dresden presented the results of the survey “Clean on the move in Holzkirchen” (we reported), which aims to improve mobility in the municipality.

According to Schleussner, a total of 80 participants joined in.

“The number is not bad.” Around 15 citizens took part in the live chat.

“That shows us that there is already a lot of interest in the topic in Holzkirchen.” Mayor Christoph Schmid is also satisfied with the participation, which he considers to be of high quality.

Better local bus

The experts advise improving the local bus.

According to Schleussner, there are several target groups in competition: Commuters who want short journey times and direct routes.

Citizens who want many stops and short walking distances.

As well as schoolchildren and seniors for whom reliability is crucial.

According to the survey, it is important to Holzkirchner that the local bus runs regularly to the train station, HEP, retailers, restaurants and residential areas.

A fast connection from the train station to the industrial areas is important to them.

The mobility company proposed a Westring line, which serves as a shopping line for citizens, also opens up the industrial area East and stops every 20 to 30 minutes at the train station.

The districts of Roggersdorf and Maitz are to be connected as needed - for example via digital networking of the stops and demand buttons.

In addition, the experts envision a Südring, which also opens up Sufferloh, Thann and Hartpenning.

This line should have a lower cycle frequency of 60 to 90 minutes.

Another key point is an express line that, for example, whizzes from Holzkirchen train station to the north industrial area in ten minutes.

The advantage: "Corporations can be involved here," says Schleussner.

The prerequisite for the lines is that stops are thinned out and replaced with stops on demand.

It is also important to digitize the system in order to act flexibly and on booking.

When asked from the chat, Pessier said: "There are already tried and tested software solutions."

Sharing offers

Furthermore, the Dresden office advises to supplement the local bus with sharing offers.

The aim is regular utilization, "so that economically viable models are created," explained Schleussner.

An approach that the mayor liked.

After all, the municipality wants to avoid a permanent grant business.

On the one hand, according to the planners, the car sharing offer on the market square should be expanded to include locations at train stations, commercial and residential areas.

These stations should also be the basis for a bike sharing system, with commuters as the main target group.

"For the cargo bike rental, we recommend employing a caretaker or a local club," said Schleussner.

It is a nice solution to carry children or go shopping.

One citizen suggested integrating cars with larger loading areas into car sharing.

Another wanted more drop-off locations.

Pessier warned against too many stations.

Otherwise someone would have to bring the vehicles back.

One participant thought that car sharing was not a good solution to curb traffic.

“This car drives around too.” According to Pessier, a good mobility offer is a reason, especially for newcomers, not to buy their own car.

Bicycle and pedestrian traffic

The experts from Dresden also want to strengthen pedestrian and bicycle traffic.

This is the point at which the parallel “modal split” study (we reported) focuses.

The aim is to increase security, Schleussner explained.

On main traffic axes, more speed 30 zones could be introduced in sections.

It is important to make the secondary road network friendlier, for example through better signage, one-way street regulations, passage restrictions or pick-up and drop-off areas at schools.

A citizen also suggested in the chat: "A kind of competition could also be an incentive for schoolchildren: Which class gets the most kilometers by bike or on foot instead of using a parent's taxi."

outlook

The mobility agency from Dresden is also incorporating the results of the chat into the study.

The market town hopes that the concept will make it into the second stage of the “MobilitätsWerkStadt 2025” funding project at the end of the year.

Then there would be further grants that serve to put the ideas into practice (we reported).
