Wearing a mask compulsory: few fines imposed

Public space, transport… Only 700 verbalizations per day were drawn up in France at the end of August. Officers are instructed to prioritize prevention rather than punishment.


Even if, day after day, the obligation to wear a mask is gaining ground in France by extending to a greater number of cities, the volume of fines for non-compliance with this health rule remains modest.

It remains barely higher than that communicated on August 27 by the Prime Minister, Jean Castex, who had mentioned 700 daily verbalizations across the country.

According to our information, an average of 500 people receive a report of 135 euros each day in the police zone, with the exception of Paris and its inner suburbs which are subject to a separate assessment.

Peaks at the end of the week can also reach 800 PV due to a greater crowd in the streets.
