Nicolas Sarkozy, former President of the Republic, said Thursday on TMC that he would no
longer
do "
daily, partisan politics
", adding that this period of his life was behind him, while some on the right spoke of a hypothetical return.
"
This period of my life is behind me, daily political life, partisan, I will not do any more, I am no longer an issue on this side
", replied Mr. Sarkozy to a question, in the program Daily, on his possible return to politics.

LR deputy for Yonne Guillaume Larrivé estimated on Wednesday that Nicolas Sarkozy, 65, could "
be a hypothesis
" to represent the right in 2022. "
I am from the world before, with values, courage, 'energy, dreams
', underlined the former head of state (2007-2012), regretting the '
horizontality
' of today's world.
But "
there is nothing that goes out of fashion more than the new world
".
To the question "what is a good president?", Mr Sarkozy replied: "
a fighter
".
And '
a bad one?
".

A normal
", he said, alluding to François Hollande, his successor who had campaigned by promising to be "
a normal president
".
As for the trials which await him, he assured that "
no
", that did not prevent him from sleeping.

Life is made up of ups and downs, satisfactions and trials,
” he added.
Nicolas Sarkozy is due to be tried at the end of 2020 in the so-called “
tapping
” case and to appear in 2021 in a second trial on his campaign costs for the 2012 presidential election. Mr. Sarkozy was the guest of the Quotidien show for talk about his work "
Le temps des tempêtes
" (editions de l'Observatoire).
A book which, he said, had already sold “
250,000 copies
”.
