An 8-year-old child in a second grade at the International School of Florence, an American private school based in Bagno a Ripoli, tested positive for Covid.
The child's class and the two teachers have ended up in quarantine
.
This morning, the ASL specifies that in quarantine, in the same school, in addition to the 8-year-old child, another second grade class and the respective two teachers were also placed.
In total, 25 children and four teachers are under health surveillance
. According to what has been learned, the two classes met during recess on the first day of school and therefore the health authorities fear a potential transmission of the virus, so the protocols have been triggered. The American institute resumed lessons on 3 September last and is one of the first schools in Florence and in the province to have restarted teaching. None of the quarantined schoolmates currently exhibit symptoms. Everyone was given the opportunity to swab immediately on a voluntary basis. In order to return to class at the end of the 15 days of the 'quarantine', it is explained, it will be necessary for everyone, pupils and teachers, a double negative buffer. No comment from the International School of Florence which, contacted by ANSA, explains that it does not want to make statements on the matter at this stage.
