A traffic court in Petah Tikva today (Thursday) sentenced Sergei Chebotarev of Kiryat Yam, after he was convicted in a plea deal of causing death by negligent driving of his partner Irena Dodinsky who was in the eighth month of her pregnancy, the newborn and her 14-year-old daughter Anat Rosenberg.

He was sentenced to ten years' driving license revocation, nine months probation, and eight months probation.

The horrific accident occurred in October 2019 on Route 6. According to the indictment, filed by the Central District Attorney’s Office, Chebotarev was driving on Route 6 from south to north in the left lane.

Dudinski was sitting next to him, and in the back sat their joint daughter Alyssa, 7, and Anat, 14, Irena's daughter.

According to the indictment, Chebutarev deviated from the left lane to the right lane, went down to the kurkar edge on the right side of the road and hit a guardrail.

As a result, the vehicle spun and stood on the road against the direction of traffic.

Another vehicle that was also traveling north did not have time to brake, hit the vehicle in which the defendant was driving and overturned.

Rosenberg and her mother were pronounced dead at the hospital.

The doctors were able to give birth to Dodinsky, but three days later the birth of the newborn was also determined.

The defendant, daughter Alyssa and the five passengers of the other vehicle were lightly injured and were also evacuated for medical treatment at the hospital.

During his interrogation by the police, Chabortev claimed that while driving, dust came out of the air conditioner that entered his eyes - and as a result he deviated from the route, but the police suspected that he had fallen asleep at the wheel.
