The Trump administration this evening (Thursday) imposed sanctions on a member of the Ukrainian parliament, with ties to Russia, who intervened in the US presidential election when he released recordings aimed at undermining the campaign of the Democratic presidential candidate, Joe Biden.
The recordings were promoted, among others, by President Donald Trump.
Three Russian citizens working for the Internet Research Agency were also blacklisted.
The move by the US Treasury Department is the second time in two months that he has called Andrei Dracatch by name.
U.S. intelligence sources said in a statement last month that the recordings released by Drachac, which included a conversation between Biden and the Ukrainian president at the time, were part of Russia's wider effort to hit the presidential candidate before the November 3 election.

The administration's move was unusual due to the accompanying statement, which said that Dracatch's recordings had advanced allegations against Biden based on "false and unfounded plots".
Trump circulated the recordings through the re-posting of Twitter posts that included them.
"It is almost certain that Dracatch marked the American electorate, prominent American figures and members of the government, based on his use of American platforms, documents and videos in English, and pro-Russian lobbyists in the United States who echoed his claims," the Treasury Department said in a statement. Dracatch and three other people linked to Russia under a presidential decree designed to prevent election interference.
Drakach is a graduate of the Spy Academy in Russia, which according to the Ministry of Finance maintains close ties with Russian intelligence services.
"Andrei Drakach and other Russian agents are using manipulation and fraud to try to influence the election in the United States and elsewhere in the world," said Finance Minister Stephen Manuchin.
"The United States will use all the tools at its disposal to challenge the Russian campaign to spread false information and maintain the fairness of our election campaign."
