The evening will be reduced compared to that of 2019, where more than 600 guests gathered around Emmanuel Macron.

Emmanuel Macron invites Monday evening to the Elysee a hundred officials of "

French Tech

" - leading companies in the digital sector - for what will be the first big gathering organized at the Presidential Palace since the confinement.

The Head of State wants to highlight the State's efforts in favor of this sector, endowed with 7 billion euros in the recovery plan, announced the Elysee.

Guests will be seated a good distance from each other in the village hall, Covid requires.

This annual evening of "

French Tech

" will however be considerably reduced compared to that of last year, which saw 600 guests crowding around the president.

Its maintenance was also suspended in the event of more drastic health constraints.

The presidency underlines that the digital sector, which creates a lot of jobs - it represents 20% to 30% of new net jobs - has held up well during confinement, where digital uses have largely developed (home delivery, virtual meetings, teleworking, etc.).

In the first half of 2020, its fundraising reached an amount slightly higher than that of the first half of 2019.

During the evening, three companies which have posted particularly remarkable performances this year will present their activity: the mobile video game publisher Voodoo, which achieved one of the most important fundraising for French start-ups by bringing in its Chinese capital Tencent, the start-up Mirakl (creation of marketplaces for companies) and Innovafeed (insect proteins).

In an address to his guests, the president should focus on sectors where the state wants to invest, such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and digital health.

This sector will receive 7 billion euros as part of the recovery plan, a large part of which will go to start-ups, according to the Élysée.

The digital upgrade of the State and the territories also has an envelope of one billion.

Funds will also be devoted to digital health and services that ensure "

pedagogical continuity

".
