Greece wants thousands of immigrants to leave after camp fire: "Tragic opportunity"
Some 12,000 people were left without shelter on the island of Lesbos after the Moriah camp, the largest in the country, was apparently set on fire by immigrants who had been placed in isolation due to the corona.
"This is a tragic opportunity, we want everyone to leave," said a Greek official.
Meanwhile, in Europe they have agreed on the absorption of only 400 hundred children

Greece began setting up tents today (Friday) for thousands of desperate migrants, who were left without shelter on the island around, after the country’s largest refugee camp went up in flames on Wednesday.
More than 12,000 people, who were staying densely in the Moriah camp, were left in the fields and along the roads, without food or water, under threat of contracting the corona virus.
However, the Greek government is acting cautiously in light of the anger of locals on the island, which lies not far from the coast of Turkey and has been one of the main fronts in Europe's migrant crisis in recent years.
Some European countries have agreed to take in hundreds of minors, but it is unclear what will happen to the rest.
"Moriah was monstrous," said Dimitris Korsovs, a senior official responsible for migrating to islands in the northern Aegean.
He told Reuters the fire was a "tragic opportunity" to find a new solution.
"We want all the immigrants to leave for national reasons. Moriah is over."

The immigrants, mostly from Syria and Afghanistan, are desperate to leave the island themselves, and they shouted "Liberty" and "No police" holding signs that read: "Not for a new camp."
The police prevented them from advancing to the center of the port city of Mytilene.
They gathered near a supermarket where helicopters landed bringing them tents and supplies.
Authorities in Greece estimate that the fire was deliberately broken out by immigrants who reacted angrily to the means of isolation imposed on the camp due to the detection of Corona virus infections last week.
Authorities have lost track of at least 35 people diagnosed positive for the virus following the chaos in the camp following the fire.
The state of emergency, however, once again showed Europe's inconsistent policies for the protracted crisis, during which more than a million migrants from war and poverty areas reached its shores, often aboard rickety boats.
"The time when Europe can be without immigration policy has run out," said Margaritas Shinas, the European commissioner responsible for immigration and asylum applications, during a press conference in Brussels.

Mediterranean countries, like Greece and Italy, are where most immigrant boats go.
They have been demanding for years that other EU countries bear the burden, but Hungary and Poland, along with several other countries, are refusing to do so.
German Foreign Minister Horst Zyhofer, who spoke alongside Shinas, said France and Germany would absorb most of the 400 children and boys transferred from Lesvos to mainland Greece.
However, no agreement has been reached on wider absorption, and the Greek authorities refuse to evacuate them from the island en masse.
