Similar reactions were heard last month following the announcement of normalization between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, although the agreement led to a freeze on the annexation program promoted by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In response, the Palestinians returned the ambassador from Abu Dhabi and said they would act in this way vis-à-vis other countries that would follow the Emirates.
However, during the week the Palestinian Authority failed in its efforts to promote a statement of condemnation of the Emirates 'move at the Arab League Foreign Ministers' Conference.
Instead, the states announced that they were committed to supporting the Palestinians and their right to an independent state based on the 1967 lines, whose capital is East Jerusalem.
