Javier Ordóñez case: in Bogotá he reported that three people died in the context of protests against police brutality.

This Friday marks the third day of protests in Bogotá and other cities against police brutality, which began after the death of Javier Ordóñez.

The death toll amid the protests already stands at 13.

Deaths amid protests rise to thirteen

The Bogotá District Health Secretariat reported this Friday that three people died in the context of protests against police brutality on Thursday night.

With these new deaths, the death toll nationwide rises to thirteen.

Damage from protests

According to Holmes Trujillo, during the protests, which began Wednesday night, 60 police facilities were damaged.

91 vehicles were damaged, including 77 public transport buses, as well as five banks and three commercial establishments.

The minister said that, so far, 90 people have been arrested in connection with the unrest.

11 are minors.

The Colombian National Police told CNN that the arrests were for the crimes of damage to public property and violence against public services.

Protests for the death of Javier Ordóñez

The protests in Colombia broke out after the death of Javier Ordóñez, a 43-year-old lawyer.

He was arrested and in the video that has circulated on social networks, two agents are seen bending him to the ground using electro-shock guns several times while he was heard begging "please."

Later he died in a clinic in Bogotá.

Minister Trujillo said: "All cooperation is being provided to ensure that the investigation into the death of Javier Ordóñez progresses rapidly."

In his appearance this morning, Trujillo assured that the situation in Colombia "until now is controlled by the National Police and the Armed Forces." He reiterated that "all the necessary measures have been taken to guarantee the stability of the country."
