A Russian Su-27 fighter jet intercepted two American reconnaissance aircraft over the Black Sea.
"The air defense means detected two flying targets approaching the Russian border over the international waters of the Black Sea ... and a" Su-27 "fighter belonging to the air defense forces launched in the southern region to intercept them," Sputnik news agency quoted the Russian Defense Ministry as saying.
The statement indicated that the Russian fighter crew had identified the two planes and turned out to be a "RC 135" patrol aircraft and a "P8 Poseidon" plane.
Earlier today, a Russian fighter jet intercepted a Norwegian reconnaissance aircraft over the Barents Sea.
