Flames and tragedy in the United States: Half a million people have been evacuated from their homes in the state of Oregon, where huge fires are raging Tuesday.

This is more than a quarter of the country's population who have been instructed to flee the flames.

Oregon police fire investigators have announced that he has opened a criminal investigation on suspicion of several arson cases around the city of Ashland and nearby communities.

The city itself, near the border with the state of California, was evacuated from its 21,000 residents in a flash evacuation, as the flames began to spread rapidly.

Despite the hasty eviction order, some residents did not manage to escape in time.

The remains of two of them were discovered this morning.

City Police Chief Tay Umaira told Reuters: "We tried to get the residents out as fast as we could, but they were already surrounded by fire from every direction."

Omiara estimates that more bodies will be found during the day in the vicinity of Ashland, while rescue forces go through every home and look for survivors.

"The chances are that more bodies will be found in some of these houses. The likelihood of more victims is high," the police chief admits.

About 600 houses in the city were completely destroyed by fire.

In another fire in the state of Oregon, in the city of Almida, a 12-year-old boy and his grandmother perished in a fire.

Now police investigators in the city claim they are examining the possibility that the fire was maliciously lit.

However, state officials have called for not listening to rumors that left-wing or far-right activists are behind the fires.

A total of nine people have been killed so far in the wave of fires that has affected at least 12 states across the United States and its center is on the west coast of the country.

In the state of California, authorities are trying to rescue the remains of three people who perished in a fire near the state capital Sacramento.

Nancy Hamilton, a filmmaker from the state of California, told CNN about the devastation she saw on the roads in the north of the state.

"It was horrible. People just lost everything. Some people don't even know they lost all their property," Hamilton said.
