Parents and teachers were left unanswered as to how distance learning would take place, following the Corona Cabinet's announcement of shutting down the education system in the first two weeks of closure, and distance learning in fifth grades and up two weeks later.

In addition, the lower classes next to the kindergartens were left unanswered with a significant proportion of parents continuing to work during the closure period in the coming month.

The National Parents' Leaders protested today (Friday) over the government's conduct and presented four demands.

The leadership said that if a general closure is imposed between Rosh Hashanah and Sukkot, the educational institutions, with the exception of special education, will be closed and there will be no distance learning.

They also demanded that as soon as one of the business sectors returns to the work routine, the educational institutions up to sixth grade will return to a full routine immediately, and seventh grades and above will return to school in a graded manner with the participation of the parents' leadership.

They also demanded that the missing days in each age group be returned on Hanukkah, Pesach and at the end of the year.

"The morbidity data provided to us varies at a dizzying rate and so does the publication of the data. We receive conflicting information at any given moment and believe that there is no real management of the data as we would like," the parents' leadership said.

The plan approved by the Corona Cabinet includes many restrictions on civilian movement, the education system and economic activity.

This, in an attempt to stem the spread of the plague.

The closure program will be divided into three phases, with studies not expected to take place in two of them - for at least a month.

Education Minister Yoav Galant promised at the time of publication of the "Learning with Confidence" outline that even during the closure, all students will study, but the Ministry of Education said today that the details of the outline are in the hands of projector Prof. Roni Gamzo.

Gamzo headquarters said the government is expected to discuss the outline of the education system on Sunday.

"The government needs to approve the outline of education, and government ministries also need to sit down and discuss the details," the Magen Israel administration said.

They added that in any case, during the closure period, the schools and kindergartens will be closed.

The National Student and Youth Council has expressed opposition to the closure of schools.

"The education system has changed beyond recognition in recent months following the Corona virus and its far-reaching consequences," the council said.

"A significant part of the change is the requirement for at least two days of physical study. We have been saying for several months that two days of physical study are not enough."

The student council made it clear that they feared that distance learning would lead to devastating consequences.

"It will be reflected in the damage to the mental and social resilience of the boys and girls, in the delay in the study material and in the drastic drop in grades," they said.

"Closing the education system will harm the future of students and society in general. Significant steps must be taken to avoid a large-scale disaster. They cannot make us the corona generation," they said.

The headquarters of the struggle for compulsory education claimed that the plan to run the studies based on the computers that children have at home, knowing that about 300,000 of them do not have a computer, is a violation of the Compulsory Education Law, and mentioned that the law states that "the state is responsible for compulsory education."

"We call on Education Minister Yoav Galant to take responsibility and stop this offense, which in addition deepens the gaps in education, gaps that will not be enough years to reduce them," the struggle headquarters explained.

"National parent leadership must not allow this social crime to occur. It is a moral and ethical duty to disable distance learning."
