The Oscars have announced the diversity requirements for the best picture category.
They will come into effect in 2024, and a film that is up for the award will have to meet two of four criteria.
One of the important protagonists or secondary players will have to belong to what they call an underrepresented ethnic group, or at least 30% of the cast must belong to an underrepresented group (women, ethnic or racial group - that is, not white - LGTBI, people with cognitive, physical or hearing disabilities).
