A recent study conducted by researchers from the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research in Britain revealed that one out of every hundred patients with the emerging coronavirus suffers from a lung hole.

The study published by the European Respiratory Journal showed that young people of tall stature or older patients with underlying lung diseases are more at risk of developing a lung perforation while undergoing treatment for Covid 19 infection.

The Cambridge researchers used admission data from 16 hospitals and consulted with colleagues across the United Kingdom who reported similar results. “We are starting to see patients with perforated lungs even among those who have not been put on a ventilator,” he said, explaining that it had been observed. A total rate of 0.91 percent of patients with severe corona suffer from perforated lungs.

And men were three times more likely to have a punctured lung than women, possibly because a growing body of research suggests that men are disproportionately affected by severe Covid 19 more than women.
