Fire
The aircraft, a Robin DR 400-type tourist aircraft widely used in flying clubs, had taken off from Villemarie aerodrome, in La Teste-de-Buch.
It crashed nearby, around 2:30 p.m., before catching fire, reports Lieutenant-Colonel Laurent Pham, spokesperson for the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis) of the Gironde.
Firefighters were forced to intervene to bring the blaze under control, which spread to a wooded area, burning 3,500 m2 of pine trees.
