Trials of the Oxford University coronavirus vaccine will resume after they were halted on Sunday after an unexplained illness in one of its volunteers, the university said in a statement today.
The university, which works with drug giant AstraZeneca, did not say what day testing would resume.
“Worldwide, about 18,000 people received the study vaccines as part of the trial.
In large trials like this one, some participants are expected to feel unwell and each case must be carefully evaluated to ensure a careful assessment of safety, ”the statement said.

Coronavirus is more likely to be carried by people than by items they bring home from school
By Niamh Kennedy and Katie Polglase
The coronavirus is much more likely to be carried by people rather than items, Dr. Sanjay Gupta said this morning in response to a concern about whether parents should disinfect items children bring home from school.
Another tip Gupta shared during CNN's "Sesame Street" back-to-school forum this morning was how to wash masks frequently.
“The good news is that people are commonly thought of as porcelain in terms of how this virus spreads.
So it is more likely to come from real people rather than objects and the like, ”he said.
«It is good to wash the mask.
Those cloth masks need to be washed regularly.
You can wash the other things with the normal frequency that you did before, but keep in mind that you really want to do it if someone is sick, having any symptoms, obviously if they tested positive, they are people who should be isolated or quarantined.
