Since Bad Wiessee single-handedly increased its spa fee to 3.30 euros in early 2019, the topic at Tegernsee has been a hot topic.

Now Kreuth has followed suit with an increase.

Do the others follow too?

  • At the beginning of 2019, Bad Wiessee single-handedly increased its spa tax to 3.30 euros

  • Now Kreuth has also decided on a new sentence

  • The community hopes for a uniform regulation across the valley

  • Will only Bad Wiessee leave in the future?

Kreuth

- At its meeting on Thursday evening, the Kreuth local council increased the community health resort contribution from two to three euros.

This makes Kreuth the first municipality to take the valley-wide course that Christian Kausch, Managing Director of Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH (TTT), has already agreed with the valley mayors behind the scenes.

Now the decisions in the individual municipal councils are still pending.

It will be exciting to see how Bad Wiessee behaves: As is well known, the health resort caused a sensation when it said goodbye to the valley-wide two-euro rate at the beginning of 2019 and single-handedly increased the tourist tax to 3.30 euros.

Beer cutter: The cost of tourism has risen significantly

In the Kreuth meeting, Mayor Josef Bierschneider (CSU) now campaigned for the increase to three euros.

This is appropriate because the cost of tourism has increased significantly since the most recent adjustment nine years ago.

The personnel costs of the TI employees, the free rides on the buses, the maintenance and designation of the hiking trails, the maintenance of the hiking parking lots and the construction of sanitary facilities there had also had an impact, as had the investments in the warm outdoor pool.

All in all, this would justify an increase of one euro per guest per day.

Second home owners are also asked to pay

But the owners of second homes are also asked to pay a flat rate of 93 euros - here an average length of stay of 31 days per year was assumed.

The flat rate saves second residents having to go to the tourist information office, where they would otherwise have to register at the beginning of each visit.

A flat rate of 93 euros is also due for year-round long-term campers, and 46.50 euros for half-year campers.

The new statutes apply from May 1, 2021.

According to Bierschneider, the landlords have been informed in advance so that they can answer relevant holiday inquiries for 2021.

"Gmund and Rottach-Egern will probably follow suit with the increase in their next meetings," explained Bierschneider.

Because with the increase in the resort fee, the new digitization strategy of the TTT is to be financed.

This was recently presented to all municipalities in the Seeforum by the chairman of the tourism advisory board, Ludwig Klitzsch, and found it to be good.

The strategy aims to make tourism offers visible online, especially for young customers.

In addition, one would like to come back to a valley-wide uniform spa tax, said Bierschneider.

It remains to be seen whether Bad Wiessee will go along with it and correct its sentence downwards again or stay 30 cents more expensive than the neighbors.
