A spokeswoman emphasizes that so far neither a prisoner in prison nor a judicial officer has died of Corona.
However, there is “a person who tested positive for the corona virus as a prisoner and was released from the penal system when he was ill”.
This person died about two and a half months after being released.
Because of a serious pre-existing illness, the prisoner was in the open execution of the Munich correctional facility in order to be able to attend necessary treatment appointments outside the institution, the spokeswoman said.
To these seven appointments in a day clinic, the prisoner usually took the public transport.
"Only then was the corona infection found," the spokeswoman emphasized.
There were no other cases in the aforementioned open execution at the time.
According to the Ministry, Corona has so far been diagnosed in 23 prisoners and 35 employees across Bavaria.
