  • Coronavirus pandemic

    in

    Germany

    :

    RKI

    *

warns of the next virus -

    West Nile fever

    .

  • Several people have already contracted the

    virus

    .

  • Some patients show some

    serious symptoms

    .

Update from September 12, 2020:

According to the

Robert Koch Institute (RKI),

four people were

infected

with the

West Nile virus

,

which is spread by mosquitoes

.

Now the tropical disease is spreading further in Germany:

eight new cases

have been confirmed in the current "Epidemiological Bulletin" of the RKI.

According to this,

evidence

was provided in

six people affected

in Leipzig after they had shown symptoms of an illness.

A 76-year-old man

developed

inflammation of the brain (encephalitis)

, a 32-year-old woman and an 85-year-old man developed

meningitis

.

It goes on to say: "The investigations into the beginning of the illness and the exact location of the infection of the six patients are in progress, but none of the people reported a trip, so that

infections acquired in Germany are

assumed." The other affected regions probably experienced

further infections

in August

, but where no symptoms or no serious symptoms occurred.

The

West Nile virus

is a pathogen originating in the tropics.

So far there is no vaccine.

Infection often goes without symptoms.

When illnesses occur, they are often associated with flu-like symptoms such as headache, chills, or vomiting.

RKI warns of tropical disease: It has already arrived in Germany - where it is spreading

News from July 25, 2020:

Munich - The

coronavirus *

is omnipresent in

Germany

.

In all respects.

And now that too.

A dangerous

tropical disease

has

already been identified in a second federal state

.

As the corresponding state office

for consumer protection announced on Friday (July 24th), the so-called

West Nile virus

has been detected

in two birds in

Saxony-Anhalt

.

RKI not only warns of coronavirus in Germany: the West Nile virus has also been detected

In mid-July, the pathogen was found in a blue tit in

Berlin

.

The dangerous thing about it: As the Express reports, the virus can be

transmitted to humans

by

mosquitoes of the genus Culex

.

For the first time, researchers found the virus, which originally came from Africa,

in birds and horses

in

Germany

in

2018

.

And: in 2019 there were first diagnosed human infections in late summer in eastern Germany, which were presumably caused by mosquito bites - in

Berlin, Saxony-Anhalt and Saxony

.

As the State Office for Consumer Protection of Saxony-Anhalt further explains,

infection

with the

West Nile virus

in humans is largely inconspicuous and mild.

West Nile Virus: Mosquitoes can transmit the virus to humans

Every fifth infected person has a

fever as a symptom

, but that goes away after three to six days.

But: In every 150th infected person, the

West Nile virus takes

a severe course, it is said.

The

Robert Koch Institute (RKI)

had already warned of the disease in June, which is easily transmitted by mosquitoes.

The state office therefore advises protection against mosquito bites.

Because: There is no vaccine *

against this virus, which is being researched intensively around the world

for the

coronavirus

.

Researchers all over the world are also working on medication for corona patients.

Two drugs are already used in Germany.

In

Berlin

, some people

no longer

seem

to take the pandemic seriously

.

A party excess in the Volkspark Hasenheide caused a large-scale police operation.

The officers struggled to make themselves heard.
