The advisor to the Leader of the Iranian Islamic Revolution for International Affairs, Ali Akbar Velayati, emphasized the necessity of the illegal departure of the foreign forces on the Syrian territories, the elimination of terrorism in Syria, and the work to preserve its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Velayati stressed during his meeting with the Syrian ambassador in Tehran, Dr. Adnan Mahmoud, the need to end the US occupation of Syrian lands and stop the plunder of oil and national resources, which represents a flagrant violation of international law, the United Nations Charter and the principle of national sovereignty.
Velayati referred to the importance of strengthening the course of economic cooperation between Iran and Syria with friendly countries to confront the unjust blockade and American-Western economic terrorism.
For his part, Ambassador Mahmoud affirmed that Syria and Iran will take concrete steps with allies and friendly countries to overcome the effects of economic terrorism practiced against them and establish joint investments that achieve the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples, in implementation of the concluded agreements.
