In a first trial, five young people have to sit in the dock.

Starnberg

- What really happened on July 25, 2019 in front of the Starnberg police station?

This question will take center stage when the trial of five young people begins next Thursday, September 17th at 9.15 a.m. in front of the Starnberg District Court.

It is the first trial of the Starnberg riot.

A second will follow, then against six other accused.

The Munich II public prosecutor's office accuses the eleven young people of physical attacks on law enforcement officers, acts of resistance, bodily harm, breaches of the peace, damage to property, insults and attempted release of prisoners.

Immediately after the accusations became known at the end of May, defense attorneys had voiced criticism of the version of the public prosecutor's office, according to which a group of 40 to 50 people were said to have been beaten, kicked and pushed against police officers (we reported).

All of the accused were between 15 and 19 years old at the time of the crime.

Four young people and one adolescent, who is now 20 years old, are initially sitting in court.

Everyone has appointed their own lawyer, which is why it is already tight in session room 125 of the district court.

Since some places are reserved for press representatives, only "a very limited number" of places will be available to the public, said the press spokesman for the local court, Franz von Hunoltstein, on Friday opposite the Starnberger Merkur.

Georg Heilmeier, a lawyer from Seefeld, is one of the defense lawyers from the Starnberg district.

He is still covered with his statements at this point in time.

He was curious to see how the matter ended, he said on request.

21 witnesses named by the court should bring light into the darkness.

Three days of negotiations have been scheduled so far.

According to the present schedule, the judgments could be pronounced on Thursday, September 24th.

Judge Ralf Jehle leads the hearing.

Two lay judges sit by his side as lay judges.

The date for the second trial with a total of six underage defendants is not known.

On July 25, 2019, the situation escalated on the sidelines of the Starnberg high school's summer festival.

Several young people had celebrated privately on the sidewalk near the school.

A 15-year-old from this group is said to have asked a security guard at the high school several times about drugs.

The employee then called the police, who finally took the 15-year-old into custody.

The attempt was then made from among the young people to free the 15-year-old.

Stones and bottles flew, there were fights.

There were also allegations against deployed police officers.

"The proceedings in the direction of the police officers were discontinued due to a lack of evidence," the public prosecutor said in May.

The Five Lakes Film Festival ended on Wednesday.

Now festival director Matthias Helwig and his team have to relax.

But they take away a lot of positive things from this special festival.
