The Israel Police has arrested for questioning 7 suspects from East Jerusalem, on suspicion of attempted murder of someone who happened this weekend in the Kiryat Menachem neighborhood of Jerusalem.
Last Friday night (11.9), the police were called to the Kiryat Menachem neighborhood of Jerusalem following a report of an assault on a 20-year-old man from the east of the city who was staying with another young woman, by a number of other young men who fled the scene.
The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition with bruises and stab wounds in several places on his body.
Police immediately launched a preliminary investigation and searches, during which they were able to locate two suspects nearby in possession of assault weapons that were allegedly used to assault the young man, and they were arrested for questioning.
As the police investigation progressed, investigators were able to locate and arrest five more East Jerusalem residents who were allegedly involved in the serious assault throughout the Sabbath.
All the suspects (18-22, all residents of East Jerusalem) were questioned by the police on suspicion of attempted murder and other offenses.
The Magistrate's Court extended the detention of two of them last night until 9/15/20.
The detention of 3 more suspects was recently extended until 16.9.20.
A hearing in the case of 2 more suspects is currently underway in court.
