In the city, they presented a comprehensive outline in order to allow tourism already on Sukkot.
Consequences of the closure:
50 hotels in Eilat, 20 hostels, 46 attractions, 19 diving clubs, 6 shopping centers with hundreds of shops, will close their gates on Friday morning for a period of three weeks or more.
On the way, more than 20,000 workers, including more than 7,700 hotel workers, will be released to their homes, almost all of the workforce in the city of Eilat.
Many of them will go to the IDF and many others will be fired. And the city of Eilat, which already had 30 percent unemployment before the closure, will become the number one city in the State of Israel with an unemployment rate of 70 percent or more. Of NIS 300 million, the closure of the malls and stores will add a loss of another NIS 100 million.
An innovative layout
The Eilat Municipality, headed by Meir Yitzhak Halevi, yesterday presented an innovative outline that will allow the city to be opened to tourism as early as Sukkot.
The purpose of the outline is to protect the tourist city from the plague and from an economic crash and to keep it clean.
This is a comprehensive and individual program "Magen Eilat" that relies on technology combined with a strict enforcement policy like no other in Israel, led by a specially hired projector - Brigadier General Bezalel Treiber, former head of Rachel.
If the Magen Eilat plan is accepted, every citizen who wants to go on vacation in the city will be required to undergo a corona examination and present it, similar to those going abroad from Ben Gurion Airport.
At the same time, the city will conduct regular daily and weekly survey tests for employees in the tourism industry who come into contact with tourists.
The survey for employees will be conducted using the test tube (collecting) test tube approved by the Ministry of Health and will begin immediately.
The city will set up stations on the roads leading to Eilat, Road 12 and Road 90, for quick tests to detect the virus in car occupants.
Those flying to Eilat will be checked even before taking off at the terminal at Ben Gurion Airport. Guests arriving will be required to submit the test results at the checkpoint at the entrance to the city. Any test that is found positive will have to undergo a quick PCR test at Yoseftal Hospital.
Guests who pass both tests and are found to be ill will be sent back to isolation according to Ministry of Health rules.
Test Yoseftal will be through existing instruments (and an additional device shall be provided to the hospital these days), rapid PCR testing results within an hour.
All Israeli tourist is also possible to provide proof that negative coronavirus test results carried out until 48 hours before arrival to Eilat.
Such a permit would save the need for an inspection at the entrance to the city.
