This Monday the first electronic passport of Ecuador will be issued that marks the modernization of the country's identification systems, as indicated by the Ecuadorian government through a statement.
The new document has a modern system that allows biometric mechanical reading through a chip, that is, biographical and biometric information of the user can be obtained such as: name, date of birth, country of origin, security data, photo in color, among others.

The objective of this new passport is to comply with international standards and the technical recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and other international regulations in force in the world.
According to the government, with the issuance of the electronic passport, «Ecuador assumes an international commitment that will strengthen the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility before the European Union (EU), as part of the negotiations for the country to join the list of privileged states with free access to the nations of the Schengen zone.
