Ammerland has always had a great fascination for artists.

Friedrich Domin (1902-1961), who was very prominent in post-war cinema, also lived here.

Münsing

- "The Trapp Family" from 1956 is one of the most successful, if not the most successful, German Heimatfilm.

He tells the - almost true - story of the former novice Maria from Salzburg.

She marries the widower Trapp and discovers that his children have real angelic voices.

When Trapp loses his fortune, Maria copes with the situation together with the children: They go on tour.

Millions of Germans once saw the - admittedly rather sentimental - film.

Friedrich Domin was born on May 15, 1902 in Beuthen (Upper Silesia) as the son of a gardener.

At first he studied architecture with Walter Gropius at the Bauhaus, but in 1921 he decided to become an actor.

He received his training at the Max Reinhardt Seminar and made his debut in 1921 in a performance of Gerhart Hauptmann's “Michael Kramer”.

From 1934 until his death he was a member of the Münchner Kammerspiele ensemble.

From 1936 he worked as a director, from 1939 he took on film roles.

Subscribed to Prussian notables

“He was subscribed to awe-inspiring dignitaries, for example as a prison director in 'Der Hauptmann von Köpenick'” writes the Internet encyclopedia Wikipedia.

That predestined him for roles like the banker in the "Trapp family", as Reich Chancellor Bismarck in "Ludwig II. - Splendor and misery of a king" or Hindenburg in "Sauerbruch - That was my life." In 1961 he was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit.

How the great mime became aware of Ammerland is unknown.

What is certain is that during his time at the Kammerspiele he lived on the first floor of the Villa Max.

In 1954 he moved into his new house on Nördliche Seestrasse, opposite the Ammerlander Schloss.

Registration documents do not exist in the municipality.
