In the social networks there is a debate about what it should be correctly called: Geltinger Strasse or Geltingerstrasse.

Is it correctly called "Geltingerstraße" or "Geltinger Straße"?
You can find both on street signs.
And this is exactly what has been eagerly discussed in the Facebook group “You're from Wolfratshausen, if ...” for a few days.
Together or apart - that is the question.
The Wolfratshaus building authority manager Susanne Leonhard can clarify the case.
The rule is crystal clear, and it applies throughout Germany.
"Street names that contain places have to be spelled out," she explains.
Classic case: the Frankfurter Ring in Munich.
In this respect it is clear that Geltinger Straße is the correct spelling.
German spelling applies to street signs
According to Leonhard, the fact that both are written down on a sign near the Esso petrol station can actually only be an oversight that occurred at some point in the past.
“I don't know how old the sign is or how it came about,” she explains.
"If someone has a pain with it, you can of course correct it." It doesn't actually mean a lot of effort.
The procedure for street signs is always the same.
“The building yard does this on its own,” she explains.
"He hires a sign manufacturer and they deliver."

And something else has kept Facebook users busy.
Namely the fact that the Wolfratshauser shields are blue (with white letters) and the Geretsrieder are white (with black letters).
According to Susanne Leonhard, there is also a relatively simple explanation for this.
“Each municipality determines this for itself.” There is a separate statute for this, in Wolfratshausen it can be found on the city's website.

That's right: The Geretsrieder spelled the street name correctly, namely apart.
However: Strictly speaking, there should be no Geltinger Strasse on Geretsrieder Grund.

What Susanne Leonhard finds strange in this context: Actually there should be no Geltinger Strasse on Geretsrieder Flur - the district boundary runs around Schützenheim.
Because: There it is actually called Wolfratshauser Strasse because it leads to Wolfratshausen.
Just like the Geltinger Straße got its name because it leads to Gelting.
