47% of all examinees who first took the written certification exam of the Bar Association in the summer of 2020 have passed it successfully, the bureau reports today (Monday).
An exam conducted on August 27 was attended by 2,835 interns, 1,867 of whom took it for the first time.
As mentioned, the transition percentage stands at 47%.
More than a third of the examinees, 968 in number, took the exam for the second time or more.
Only about 7% of them passed.
The head of the Bar Association, Adv. Avi Chimi: "I congratulate the new members of the family of lawyers in Israel and wish them success in their new path.
From my first day in office, I have worked to establish a public committee that will regulate once and for all the training path of law students, and I call again for the establishment of such a public committee today.
The committee's conclusions will be able to prevent mental anguish and uncertainty among those who want to enter the gates of the profession, along with ensuring the quality of the profession and creating a suitable and appropriate training track. "
As mentioned, Adv. Chimi turned to Justice Minister Avi Nissenkorn to renew the committee examining the format of the certification in law, chaired by retired Judge David Cheshin, which will examine possible changes in the procedure, as well as the possibility of conducting an examination that examines the suitability of law students. At that time, Amir Ohana and Chaimi set up a similar committee, but since then it has not convened, so a request was made to re-establish it.
The percentage of those who pass the certification exams has been declining in recent years.
In December 2019, about 63% of the examinees passed for comparison.
