Xinhua reported that the Chinese president affirmed his country's stance during a videoconference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, whose country currently holds the rotating presidency of the European Union, European Council President Charles Michel, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
During the meeting, Ping presented China's principled stance on issues related to Hong Kong and Xinjiang, stressing that the core of issues relating to Hong Kong and Xinjiang is to protect China's national sovereignty, security and unity and protect the rights of people of all ethnic groups in China to live and work in peace.
