1. We wanted a new Middle East - We got a new Middle East.

But yesterday, September 2020. Not then (Oslo) in September 1993 or in those bloody days of the 1990s when sand was thrown in our eyes and we were told that peace passes first through a Palestinian state and many retreats from ancestral land, with buses exploding in the background.

The various Nobel Prizes (including Arafat) also failed to hide the bluff.

The State of Israel yesterday signed a historic peace agreement with the United Arab Emirates, the most advanced country in the Arab world today, and with its neighbor in the Gulf of Bahrain, a very close ally of Saudi Arabia.

One has to be really naive not to understand that Saudi Arabia has given this agreement the green light and is even on the way to joining when it finally buries the 2002 Arab initiative.

"5 more countries maybe 6 are expected to join," US President Trump revealed yesterday in the White House in response to a question from our colleague from Channel 20, Little Sun.

Amazing.

It's no less amazing.

The Israeli-Arab conflict as we have known it since our existence as a sovereign nation is changing before our eyes.

So it is true that in the studios there were those who told us with a sour face that it is indeed beautiful, but not so historical because ties with those countries were anyway, and not wars.

It is a pity that they did not explain to us why such agreements were not signed before.

Perhaps because we have been crazy for years with a misguided paradigm that until we give up, and do not back down and do not stand still for the Palestinian anthem, the Arab world will not recognize us?

Could it be that US President Donald Trump had the right formula on how to do it right?

Remember how much he was ridiculed when he was a presidential candidate?

And how many mocked the plan of the century?

It is said that the one who laughs last laughs.

- Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 15, 2020

It is possible that the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, was right in his book from 25 years ago, "A Place Under the Sun," when he foresaw peace with the moderate Arab world and the idea of peace within itself.

And how much this prime minister has snatched from the media, from the opposition.

From whom not?

The Israeli public is probably not that stupid when it has given it confidence time and time again.

And Netanyahu has a legacy.

"There is much less isolation for Israel than ever before," Trump said, and I could not help but feel a little sorry for former Prime Minister Ehud Barak, who in those moments may have been watching Netflix.

Who said 2020 will be remembered as a bad year.

It joins 1979 (peace with Egypt) and 1994 (peace with Jordan).

So it is true that Netanyahu and we are expecting the war in the Corona, but we must also remember that the Corona will one day be defeated and there will be a vaccine.

Yesterday in Washington we took an important step on the way to overcoming the hate virus in our neighbors.

We are not innocent and know he has not disappeared.

Perhaps to remind us of its existence, right during the ceremonial speeches, there were two interceptions over Ashdod and Ashkelon.

This was the unfortunate way for the Palestinians to mention that they existed.

And a pity, because they had so many other opportunities.

4. Trump does not give up.

In his first term, he managed to tie Israel to the Sunni world and now he is moving to the hard nut, the Shiite world.

Saudi Arabia, even if it has not yet joined, has made the change on the Sunni side and Iran is the one to do so from the Shiite side.

It will not be easy but only a president like Trump can be creative and organize more and more ceremonies for us.

In his speech, Netanyahu summed up well what we saw yesterday: ending the conflict with the Arab world, an economic benefit that will be felt by the peoples of the Middle East, and most importantly: this peace is being made between peoples and not between leaders - and that is a huge change.

No more peace of a closed club of leaders and their associates, but peace for all, when they already dream of flying and visiting. "We are changing the course of history and building a new Middle East," Trump declared, showing us with his close friend Netanyahu how to do it right.

"And it is impossible to end without talking about the sovereignty that will come. Although the Emirates' foreign minister congratulated Netanyahu in his speech on choosing peace and stopping the 'annexation.'" He stopped, "he did not" cancel. "And that is precisely why Donald Trump refused to comment. Everything seems so promising yesterday in Washington, but we must not forget that even if the train leaves and yesterday's agreements are not canceled, we still have Trump in the White House rather than in Biden - not only because he is good for Israel but because yesterday we realized he is good for the Middle East. Of Clinton, Obama and tomorrow Biden, has not proven itself, to say the least.

Only a crazy reality like that of the Corona can on the one hand put us in quarantine in our country and get us out of quarantine from our region.

Thank you to the Emirates, thank you to Bahrain, thank you to the five or six countries on the way, thank you to Trump and it is also permissible, if the demonstrators who sent representatives to Washington allowed us to thank you, too, Mr. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
