Wade Crowfoot, California minister:

"One of the things we agree and prioritize is taking care of the forests. But we also need to understand climate change and what it means for our forests. And we want to work with science. Science will be the key because if we ignore science and bury our heads in the sand and think that it's all about taking care of the forests, we will not be able to protect the people of California. "

Donald Trump:

"It will be cooler. Just watch."

California Minister Wade Crowfoot:

"I wish science would agree with you."

Donald Trump, US President:

"I think science doesn't know either."

The climate dispute, broken down into a brief dialogue.

On the one hand, the position of science, represented by the California Minister Wade Crowfoot.

And on the other hand the position of the climate change skeptics, in the person of the US President - of all things when visiting the west coast, which has been plagued by devastating forest fires for weeks.

Scientists believe that climate change will exacerbate weather extremes, which will lead to more violent forest fires.

The Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom also formally implored Trump to take climate change seriously.

Gavin Newsom, Governor of California:

"The severity of these fires, the drought, for more than five years ... we've lost 163 million trees to the drought. Something has happened to the very structure of the world. And we hold the perspective and belief where we involve science and the evidence is so self-evident that climate change is real and that it is making the problem worse. "

Trump's refusal to even acknowledge climate change has been a major point of contention since he began his tenure.

The high point for the time being was the withdrawal of the USA from the Paris climate agreement.

With the devastating fires on the west coast, the climate is now a campaign issue.

Joe Biden, Democratic presidential candidate, attacked Trump sharply for his position.

Joe Biden, Democratic presidential nominee:

"If you give an arsonist four more years in the White House, why should anyone be surprised when even larger parts of America are on fire?"

In the event of an election victory, climate policy should become a focus of Biden's tenure.

This will no longer help those currently affected on the west coast of the USA.

More than 30 people have died and dozen are missing.

Tens of thousands had to leave their homes.

And the flames are far from being extinguished.
