Corona's commissioner, Prof. Roni Gamzo, sent a letter to Health Minister Yuli Edelstein and Education Minister Yoav Galant regarding the issue of holding classes during the closure.
Gamzo claimed that the government had made an "incorrect decision, contrary to the professional recommendation", when it determined that the educational institutions would operate until Thursday.
In fact, his request is not to hold the two remaining school days until the closure takes effect.
At the same time, Gamzo noted that he and his team are "convinced that the increase in morbidity in general and in the general population in particular is due to over-infection and distribution in the education system - and especially in those aged 10 and over."
"I want to meet our professional recommendation and not allow the opening of the education system tomorrow, with all the complexity, but it may be possible to reduce it to fifth grades and above only. This recommendation is supported by all professionals," he wrote.
Today (Tuesday) Galant announced that the matriculation exams that are to be held on Seder days will be held on time.
The Ministry of Education said in a statement: "The matriculation exams were excluded along with the educational activities of special education students, youth villages, children and youth at risk. The issue was presented and approved by the government."
According to guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health, the education system will not operate during the closure period.
Only the institutions mentioned above will remain open.
At the same time, distance learning will be allowed.
