The CSU is on board: Party leader Markus Söder was reportedly inaugurated in the agreement between Chancellor Angela Merkel and Federal Minister of the Interior Horst Seehofer on the admission of refugees from the Greek islands.
According to SPIEGEL information, the Bavarian Prime Minister supports the planned regulation.
Merkel and Seehofer had agreed to accept 1,500 refugees from Greece.
According to SPIEGEL information, the number results from families whose need for protection was recognized in a Greek asylum procedure and who are on the islands.
The Interior Minister of Lower Saxony Boris Pistorius (SPD) described the agreement between Seehofer and Merkel as "a sensible, overdue decision that is going in the right direction".
In view of the catastrophic fire in the Moria camp, 1500 people are not enough.
Lower Saxony is therefore ready to take in 500 refugees at short notice.
Now the other EU states should also quickly follow suit.
"We need a clear signal from the EU that the member states that refuse to adopt a common refugee policy will feel the consequences," said Pistorius.
"That must have consequences, anything else would not be justifiable to the states that live up to their responsibilities."
The SPD chairman Saskia Esken had called for Germany to accept several thousand refugees from Greece in addition to the offers of help that had already been made.
The fire at Camp Moria left more than 12,000 migrants homeless.
Greens criticize '
sham offer
' to take in refugees
The Greens are not satisfied with the Union's provision for 1,500 migrants from the Greek islands.
"I am happy for everyone who can escape these catastrophic circumstances," said Bundestag parliamentary group leader Katrin Göring-Eckardt.
"But the admission of 400 families who already have positive asylum decisions is an alibi."
She added, "In order to take significant pressure off the situation, we are calling for 5000 people to be admitted quickly."
On Lesbos alone, over 4,000 children and their families lived in inhumane conditions.
"It is precisely this type of bogus offer that means that Greece cannot trust the support of the European Union and must fear that it will end up alone with the refugees again."
It is not enough to "pick out" a couple of positive families, criticized Göring-Eckardt.
Germany and the EU could not shirk responsibility for certain groups of people seeking protection.
