Travelers eager to fly again can consider Italy their next destination.
Rome Airport is the first airport in the world to obtain Skytrax's "covid-19 5-star airport classification", which classifies the international airport industry.
Although Skytrax is known for its ranking of the best airports in the world, the covid-19 crisis prompted the organization to create a designation for airport hygiene.
Tourists are leaving Italy.
Now catastrophe is coming
According to a Skytrax statement, the organization based its rating on "a combination of procedural efficiency checks, visual observation analysis and ATP sampling tests."
Rome airport, the busiest in Italy

Fiumicino Airport (FCO), also known as Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport, is the busiest airport in Italy.
On September 1, the Rome airport opened a 650-square-meter COVID-19 testing center, which is co-managed by the Italian Red Cross.

So far Skytrax, whose head office is in the UK, has only been able to monitor European airports.
In addition to the FCO five-star rating, three other airports have received three stars for their response to COVID-19:
Malaga-Costa del Sol airport (AGP) in Spain,
Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE) in France
and London Heathrow Airport (LHR).
According to the Skytrax rating system, five stars indicate "very high standards of airport cleaning and maintenance procedures," while four stars are "good" and three are "average."
Two stars, the lowest possible rating, means that the airport's COVID-19 protocols "need work."
Skytrax expects to rate airports in North America, the Middle East and Asia in the fall of 2020 as more national borders begin to open.
