The punitive customs taxes imposed on China by the Trump administration violate international trade rules, the WTO ruled on Tuesday.

In a report, the group of experts of the World Trade Organization responsible for ruling on this case at the request of Beijing, concluded that "
the measures in question are incompatible
" with various articles of the GATT (ancestor of the WTO ), and "
recommends that the United States bring its measures into conformity with its obligations
".
