"We are waiting for the text of the law": the astonishing insurance of squatters in Saint-Honoré-les-Bains

VIDEO - In this new case of occupation of private property, the mayor says he fears a slippage, the squatters having irritated many residents.

After the resounding case of the Théoule-sur-Mer squat, a new “

squat

” case will put the nerves of the French owners to the test.

The village of Saint-Honoré-les-Bains in the Nièvre (744 inhabitants) is indeed in turmoil since the takeover of a house by squatters, who do not hesitate to invoke French law in their defense.

Véronique Peltier, neighbor of the squatted house and friend of the owners, summarized this Wednesday, September 16 the situation at the microphone of RMC.

The owners (whose mother, usually resident of the place, is currently in nursing home) were warned by the village that people had taken over the house, and came on site at the end of the week, to recover their property.

An isolated squatter then left the scene.

But the same evening, a couple in their forties arrived in the building and ... dislodged the owners!

We saw two furies arrive.

Insulting, aggressive, they entered the house never to leave [...]

”, says Véronique Peltier.

The squatters would have even ordered the owners to "

decamp

", explaining that they had settled a few days earlier.

"We are waiting for the gendarmes and the text of the law"

A video of the scene, posted last Sunday, September 13, testifies to the ugly nature of the situation.

The couple of squatters are confronted there with the legitimate owners, who ask in vain to recover their property.

The de facto occupants show a disconcerting nonchalance.

Wearing a half-donned motorcycle helmet and rolling a cigarette, a man first explains what drives him to squat: "

I would be in the shoes of these people

[the owners]

, I would not agree. .

But the problem is, I know the law, I know it's like that.

His companion, for a bit, would complain: “

We are not there to degrade

[...].

We intended to clear the ton of brambles that has been there for thirty years!

she criticizes.

The brambles, I know, a bunch of brambles like that it takes thirty pins to have them, already!

".

The man then takes the floor again and warns that "

the mayor has no power

".

Didier Bourlon, the village councilor, arrives precisely in the meantime.

He inquires about the situation, then defends the owners.

Quietly lighting his cigarette, the squatter then replies: "

You can raise your voice, shout even if you want."

Just because you're going to shout doesn't mean you're going to impress everyone, mayor or not.

"Echoing his words, his companion then repeats several times:"

We are waiting for the gendarmes and the French law

[which expels us] ".

The situation can "degenerate", according to the mayor

In front of this morgue, several villagers have expressed their support for the family that owns the property, and some are even considering evicting the manu militari squatters.

The mayor confided on Tuesday his fears for public order to France3 Régions: “

Some young people, some not so young, will regroup and hunt the squatters.

This is what I explained to certain authorities this morning.

I'm very afraid that it will degenerate,

”he explained.

The salvation of the owners could otherwise come from the government.

In recent weeks, the emotion created by the Théoule-sur-Mer affair has led the Minister in charge of Housing, Emmanuelle Wargon, to defend an amendment aimed at facilitating the eviction of squatters, with an intervention by the prefect in less than 48 hours.
