Paris: a man seriously injured by bullets in Belleville

The affair looks like a settling of scores.

This Tuesday evening, shortly before 10 p.m., two people riding a scooter entered the rue du Faubourg-du-Temple (Xe) and fired several times on a young man who was on the sidewalk.

They fled immediately after, leaving their lifeless victim on the ground.

A targeted attack

Hit in the back by several projectiles, the young man targeted was very seriously injured.

He was quickly taken care of by the emergency services - alerted by the many witnesses to the scene - who rushed him to the Georges-Pompidou hospital.

According to a police source, his vital prognosis would be engaged.

An investigation for attempted homicide was opened and entrusted to the 2nd district of the judicial police.

At least four large caliber projectiles were reportedly found on the ground near the victim.

If the reasons for this shooting remain obscure for the moment, there is no doubt that the injured was the victim of a targeted attack.

"It's a red light district here"

The facts took place, on the 10th arrondissement side, in front of one of the many small fast food establishments on the rue du Faubourg-du-Temple.

According to our information, the young man in his twenties targeted had been working there for only a few months.

He was still behind his counter open to the street when the shooters came looking for him.

“It's a red light district here.

Every day, there are problems between gangs of young people, ”comments another shopkeeper in the rue du Faubourg-du-Temple who only knew the victim by sight.

“Maybe he's in there…”, he continues, evoking the rivalries, evoking the many rivalries between gangs in the Belleville sector against a background of traffic.

The gunshot attack took place in any case in a climate of great tension in the neighborhood.

Last weekend, groups of young people, particularly armed with mortars, clashed at night but also during the day in Rébeval Square.
