Thrillers and children's books, bestselling novels and non-fiction: when the postman Christian Stehr distributed the mail on Wednesday in Planegg, he had a whole box of books to give away.
There was something for every taste.
With invoices and advertising slips, which Stehr often distributes, he rarely puts a smile on the recipient's face.
He had all the more fun yesterday.
“That was very entertaining,” he says.
He rang the doorbell and unexpectedly brought pages of joy to the people in his delivery district.
Everyone who opened it was allowed to choose a book.
Planegg - With this campaign, Deutsche Post wants to encourage reading pleasure and encourage those who are grumpy to read.
Actually, selected postmen should have given away the total of more than 1000 books in selected locations in Germany on World Book Day on April 23rd.
But then the pandemic came and all actions on World Book Day had to be postponed
Among the 30 books that Christian Stehr was finally allowed to distribute in Planegg yesterday, bestsellers were among others by Lucinda Riley and John Grisham.
However, the children's books were best received, says the postman.
The whole family was always happy.
He met less readers in his delivery district.
“I got rid of everything,” he says.
Christian Stehr took part in the campaign for the first time.
