Tonight (Wednesday), President Reuven Rivlin apologized to the public for the conduct of the leadership in Israel during the Corona.

In a special speech ahead of the closure on Friday, the president said, "We have not done enough as a leadership to be worthy of your attention. You trusted us and we were disappointed. I understand the confusion and anxiety many are in and apologize for that."

Rivlin added, "On a personal level, I apologize for my conduct in the President's House during the Passover closure. I apologized in the past and I do so again today."

Earlier today, the government decided to accept the recommendation of the Ministry of Health and Corona Projector, Prof. Roni Gamzo, and bring forward the closure of the education system tomorrow, following a significant increase in infection in schools and kindergartens.

During the closure, which will begin on Friday at 14:00 beyond a distance of 500 meters from the house, a series of restrictions will be placed on traffic in the public space.

Among the activities that will be brought to the approval of the government and the Knesset will also be participation in funerals and demonstrations.

It will be possible to exceed the 500-meter limit in order to stock up on food, medicine or essential products, and receive medical, psychological or complementary medicine treatment.

According to the Ministry of Health this morning, 5,523 people were diagnosed in Corona in the past day.

This increased the number of infected patients in Israel to 166,794.

Yesterday, results were obtained for more than 55,000 tests, with the percentage of positive for the virus standing at 9.9%.

The number of active patients is 42,862.

1,153 patients are hospitalized, of whom 138 are respirators and 535 are seriously ill.

To date, 1,141 people have died from the corona virus in Israel.
