Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi, who did not attend the signing ceremony of the peace agreements with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain at the White House this week, today (Thursday) criticized Prime Minister Netanyahu's conduct and said: "I would have acted differently in his place."

The remarks, which were made in an interview with the GLC, came against the background of the discourse that claims that Netanyahu excluded Ashkenazi and the replacement Prime Minister and Defense Minister Bnei Gantz from formulating the agreements.

Ashkenazi, who nevertheless signed a power of attorney that allowed Netanyahu to sign the agreements in his place, added: "From the moment (Netanyahu) chose to do so, I did not see much difference whether I applaud in Israel or in the White House. I chose to deal with Corona and what the agreement entails."

Ashkenazi added: "We are in the picture regarding agreements with other countries. I have spoken with the Omani and with other countries. There is no reason why I should not go to the signing ceremony with Saudi Arabia."

Ashkenazi referred to the political ambitions expressed by Mossad chief Yossi Cohen yesterday in News 12: "Whoever is in the civil service should not engage in politics, but in his position. He is not the first Mossad chief who has long been secretive."

Regarding the approval of the quarantine regulations in the government: "It was easiest for all of us to close everything, but we allow the economy to be managed in a way that will reduce morbidity but allow people to survive. We will leave the quarantine in an orderly fashion, unlike the wrong way last time. We have already decided that we will return from this situation to a traffic light. "

Asked whether the opening of the school year on September 1 was a mistake, he argued that the decision was correct at the time.

Only then did it become clear that morbidity in educational institutions was growing - so it was decided to close them.
