Italy is one of the most popular travel destinations for Germans.
A popular holiday destination there now requires tourists to take a corona test upon entry.
Despite the corona pandemic, many Germans left in 2020 * - albeit increasingly within national borders.
Some still want to go on vacation in autumn.
But anyone who has chosen a popular destination in Italy could now be obliged to take a corona test.
Popular holiday destination in Italy requires corona test
For some time now, entry into Italy has been possible again for German citizens without restrictions.
In the spring it looked very different: Italy closed the borders after the number of corona cases had increased enormously in the provinces of Lombardy and Veneto.
But now a popular holiday destination in Italy is again exercising more caution:
Stricter entry

apply to the island of Sardinia
from September 15th
.
Holidaymakers must now submit a negative corona test or take it directly upon arrival.
Until the result is known, the travelers have to go into quarantine.
This was announced by Christian Solinas, the president of the region, on Friday (September 11th).
The stricter regulation will initially apply until October 7th.

Italy vacation in Sardinia: This currently applies to entry
As the Federal Foreign Office informs, travelers have to register for air and sea traffic to Sardinia 48 hours before entry.
The Regione Autònoma de Sardegna provides an online form for this purpose.
Holidaymakers must bring the registration with them in printed form upon entry and present it with a valid identity card.
In addition, travelers need the aforementioned corona test - either
PCR or antibody test
: If it was done before entry, it must
not be older than 48 hours
.
If the results are not yet available, holidaymakers must fill out a self-declaration online and state where and in which facility the test was taken.
Alternatively, the Covid-19 test can be made up on arrival.
Until the result arrives, travelers have to go into quarantine.
This can take up to 48 hours.
In addition, temperatures are measured when entering Sardinia.
