China drastically reduced its air links with the rest of the world at the end of March in order to limit the arrival of patients who could potentially relaunch the epidemic on its territory.

The country has since largely contained the Covid-19 thanks to measures of containment, quarantine, screening, monitoring of contact cases and wearing of masks.

It only lists a handful of new cases every day.

A plane from South Korean low-cost company T'way landed at Wuhan's Tianhe International Airport on Wednesday with 60 passengers on board, state television CCTV reported.

Images broadcast by the channel showed travelers wearing masks, as well as police officers in full protective suits and visors checking passports.

Nearly 3,900 people have officially died of Covid-19 in Wuhan, more than 80% of the 4,634 deaths recorded by China on its territory.

The city was placed in quarantine for more than two months starting January 23.

The town hall then organized the screening of all 11 million inhabitants.

Passengers arriving in Wuhan from overseas will be required to show a negative coronavirus test within 72 hours, Li Yizhuo, director of the Municipal Civil Aviation Bureau, told CCTV.

China still prohibits entry into the national territory to almost all foreigners.

People arriving in the country are required to undergo medical tests and a 14-day hotel quarantine, at their own expense.

Wuhan Airport reopened in early April and so far only accommodated domestic flights.

The numbers of passengers and flights have returned to their pre-epidemic levels, its operator said last week.
