A 72-year-old pensioner from Dachau withdrew 15,000 euros from her account and gave it to fraudsters - believing she was helping with a police operation.
Dachau
- A 72-year-old pensioner from Dachau has become a victim of call center fraudsters.
The perpetrators pretended to be police officers and told the senior citizen that two offenders had been arrested and another was still on the run.
The lady could help to arrest the suspect by working with the "police": all she had to do was withdraw money, then the "police" in the bank could make arrests.
The "arrest officers" would of course check the authenticity of the money withdrawn.
The pensioner could even hear a presumably real police radio in the background of the caller.
A callback made by her on the telephone number 110 led back to her "old conversation partner".
In the end she assumed she was helping with a police operation, actually withdrew 15,000 from her bank and handed the money over to the fraudsters.
According to the injured party, the main culprit should be around 30 years old and 1.75 meters tall.
He had a southern appearance, a dark, short haircut, was dressed in a corona mask, blue jeans and a dark T-shirt.
He spoke German without an accent.
The second suspect was six feet tall and wearing a white jogging suit.
The Fürstenfeldbruck detective asks people who have suspected suspicious perceptions in the area of Himmelsreichweg and Schillerstraße in Dachau to call 0 81 41/61 20.
In addition, the police emphasized: "Real officials never ask for cash, transfers or valuables and never call the emergency number 110!"
