Geretsried

- Three years ago six committed men founded the initiative “Future.

Perspective.

Geretsried ".

They wanted to give the citizens a voice, to act as a mouthpiece and mediator.

Now the movement around lawyer Dr.

Jens Becker-Platen dissolved.

"I have the feeling that something has to be done in Geretsried," the initiator told our newspaper when it was founded.

The movement criticized the fact that the implementation of many good ideas from the city vision process "fell asleep" due to a lack of time and staff in the city administration.

In addition, the Geretsrieder did not feel sufficiently involved in urban development.

Mayor Michael Müller (CSU) resisted these allegations, and after a meeting in the town hall it was clear: the city and the citizens' initiative want to pull together.

The focus of the citizens' initiative was on the design of the Neue Mitte and in particular the Karl-Lederer-Platz.

“We wanted to ensure that the citizens and their competencies are better involved in the development of Karl-Lederer-Platz”, the 54-year-old looks back.

“And I think that also paid off.” They wanted more greenery, the furniture and fewer cars in the center.

This goal has essentially been achieved, says Becker-Platen, who has his office in the BGZ and has the construction site in front of his eyes every day.

“I'm also satisfied with the flooring, I like it a lot,” adds the lawyer.

“Annoying”, however, are the delays.

The square should be ready long ago - but the corona pandemic thwarted the city's plans.

“I'm excited about the traffic management when Egerlandstrasse is finished.” The lawyer would like the shared space principle to take effect.

“And I also hope that people will accept the underground car park.

Whereby I have noticed that slowly a habituation effect occurs. "

Even if the construction phase will continue for a few years, Becker-Platen is satisfied.

"If you want to develop as a city, you have to accept that," says the native of Lüneburg, who has worked in Geretsried since 1998 and has lived here since 2007.

“Otherwise you stand still.” With the new buildings Centrum 20 and PulsG on Karl-Lederer-Platz and the new buildings of the Sparkasse and Baugenossenschaft on Egerlandstrasse, “I believe that a center will finally be built”.
